Low and lawful... This 350 square meter poolhouse, housing changing rooms, and gym areas has been designed for the grounds of a large detached mansion in High Halstow. The low nature of this building, coupled together with its construction and positioning in the grounds means that this classifies itself as permitted development - and hence doesn't require planning permission! We have managed to achieve the low height of this building by designing a split pitched roof. This consists of a 30 degree clay tile section, and a 5 degree pitch lead roof above, achieving a traditionally styled building of less than 4 metres height across its 10 meter spans. With the main mansion in the grounds also having a 30 degree clay tile roof, this building therefore visually couples itself with this when viewed from the ground. A lawful development certificate has been granted on this building, and its construction is now underway, with completion expected mid 2006. |
